Possibly overheating...

Or possibly not charging the battery, does the charge light come on?
Question Author
Yes chuck everything s working properly. I went into lan settings and dissabled all the wake on ping etc etc
So then I took out the power cable and it didnt restart. I then plug the power supply in when turned off and it doesnt restart. I leave the power cable in, turn it on and then shut down and it automatically restarts

i.e. if the power cable is in and you shut it down it will automatically restart.
Any ideas?
My Ex used to do that .. very annoying when I was trying to get some shut-eye.

You have BIOS settings for USB wake up events and modem wake-up? Tried looking at those?
I suppose must be a problem with main power board if nothing else works.
Remove the battery and let it stand for a while with it out and the laptop off then reconnect the battery and restart it dont connect the AC power and see if this fixes it .Toshiba laptops are notorius at this so maybe it might be the same thing for ASUS as well
