Hi there I just received one of these BFPO letters from a trooper and I've gone and got some blank ones from the post office to send back when I asked the guy do I have to put a stamp on or is it free and also do I need to bring it in the post office to the counter or could it just be posted in any post box he just seemed confused does anyone know please?

Also I wanted to stick a little mini photo of me which has a sticky back to it about the size of 2 stamps, it says no enclosures would those sticker photos be frowned on as an enclosure?

Thanks alot

If the photos are that small you'll probably get away with it. As for the rest, no you don't need a stamp, they are already franked and, yes, you can post them in a postbox.

Hey thanks for that Prescott
BFPO mail goes to Whitehall War Office for sorting....UK postage rates apply.

Whilst it is true there is a local Defence Mail Centre in central London dealing with local central London distribution, all BFPO stuff from around the UK goes to the central sorting HQ at Mill Hill. Has done so since 1962.
send it like a normal letter, just put it in the postbox, it will get there.
sorry, meant to say NO need to put a stamp on it
I can clarify this by saying:

If the bloke you are writing to is on operations then the mail is free. If he is not (ie Germany, Cyprus etc) If not then try here: http://www.bfpo.mod.u...etter.htm#whatitcosts

As for the photo, if it is a bluey you are sending then just tuck it inside. No one (apart from the recipient) will open it, and honestly no one cares. The other option is to put the bluey into your printer and print direct onto it. Thats worked for me in the past.

Hope this helps
