Hi not sure where to post this so here goes
We have worked hard to buy a villa with a community pool which our whole family can use throughout the summer months.
Every year we go there is always problems surrounding the community pool due to rule breakers and the (committee) are always shutting the pool down. We pay quite a bit every year for the pleasure of having this but every year it is spoiled by people who think rules dont apply to them.
All we are looking for is a nice family break.
Surely depriving us who stick by the rules isnt the solution and wont stop the rule breakers Help?
Your suggestions would be appreciated

What have the 'committee' done about this? Apart from shutting it down? That's not going to help at all, is there a supervisor on the complax or manager who can be there to ensure the 'rule breakers' actually know the rules? there should be clear H&S notices displayed surely, and the other people who use the villas should make sure anyone they rent thier property to is aware of the rules. is that not what is happening/ People who have never used the place before are treating it like it is not their own?

Thats the problem we have the rules are on a board by the pool.
There is nobody overseeing the activities that are taking place and individuals dont say anything incase there is a row. So the (committees) solution is to shut the pool to all.
I think this is one of the problems where rules are unenforceable unless there is somebody on site to enforce them. You need to get all the residents together - and this will be difficult if the complex is abroad and they're not all there at the same time of year and discuss options such as you all chipping in an extra sum to have an individual overseeing the pool area. This is likely to be very expensive. Do you have a management company who looks after all the maintence of the commual pool or any grounds you have? if so, they should be responsible to writing to all the residents to ensure that they, or the tenants to whom properties are let out, are responsible for ensuring rules are obeyed. In reality, you will always get people who feel they are entitled to flout rules . You have two options: All owners get together either force the commitee to find satisfactory options or vote the commitee out of office and take on the job yourselves, OR get another villa where you have a private pool and none of this hassle.

Good answer Whoever
Would'nt it be nice if everyone got on instead of trying to score points. I think the main problem is the residents do not like the holiday lets so they shut the pool to drive them away.
You dont see these problems when you are buying Im sad to say.
