me and my ex split up over a month ago , we were not married just living together, which the tenancy agreement was in her name, a vehicle of mine is in the garage which is registered to me and purchased by me( i have all docs to prove this) she will not let me on the property to get the vehicle unless i give her 2grand, the police have been involved and say this is a civil matter, and if i go on the property again she can do me for trespassing,
where do i go from here.

Write a firm but polite letter stating your claim to the car, and that as you can prove the car is yours, she is unlawfully holding it. I don't know the value of the car, but depending on the amount, set a deadline by which she must have allowed access to collect the car (or arranged for its retrieval) or you will start legal proceedings against her for the value of the car.
Not knowing the cost of the car, i cant say whether this would fall under small claims court or not, but you can look it up. Either way, the letter might be enough to sort her out.
Is she saying you gave her the car as a gift?

Being the Registered Keeper does not necessarily prove ownership.

Whose name is it insured in?

hi thanks for the answers , the vehicle is wrth 5000/5500 pounds , im am the registered keeper ,i have the the origanal perchase document in my name and it is insured in my name as well .
Is she saying you owe her half the value because it was bought with the intention you would both have use of it?

Did she pay anything towards it?
Question Author
no she isnt , she already told the police it was mine, and mine only, and she is saying that the only way im alowed on the property is to sell it from there and give her the money ,but it is not fosale, i also took a loan out for it which is in my name and i have been paying it, she has her own car.
Why does she think she is entitled to half of the money? It doesn't make sense.

Is she driving it?
If there is new finance on it it can't be sold can it Ethel?
They said they took a loan out, not Finance, Dot.
why not wait until she goes out, break in and take the car. then offer to pay for any damage you cause. make sure you tell her she is a chump!
Because he could be prosecuted for criminal damage.
