Hello all

Last year I had my first baby. when she was 3 months I was told i could claim working tax and child tax even though i was on maternity. I phoned and made my application by telephone. Then when the tax year ended I made a new claim this year by filling in a form. They then wrote to me in July saying that I had been overpayed by 90 pounds and that because I'm now working and would not be able to receive any money until june 2009!! I dont understand this at all. can anyone give me any advice as to why i was receiving a total of 452.00 pcm as a total for child tax and working tax and now i'm told I receive NIL!!

Get back in touch with the Inland Revenue- if you only owe them 90 there should still be some payment to come- even if you only qualify for Family Element (due to higher earnings) which is 540 for the year they should just deduct what you owe and then pay you the remainder over the year.
