Parish Records are usually stored at the County Records Office or Archives. They very rarely remain at the Church, especially for that era.

To visit the Records Office you will probably need some ID to get a readers ticket and some change for the photocopier / lockers. You also need a pencil, most won't allow you to take a pen into the room.

If you go here:

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/

Choose the County you are interested in and click on it. Then one of the options that appear should be 'Church Records'. Click this and it will tell you where they are held.

You could always phone the Records Office in advance to make sure they have the records you need, you will probably need to make an appointment anyway.

thanks CheekyChops its starting to drive me insain lol
you need to consider what information you are likely to find in any Parish register prior to 1837. Most marriage entries contain the bride and grooms name, the date of the marriage, not necessarily the age, marital status (i.e batchelor of this parish or of whatever parish etc) and the signatures of whitnesses. The original registers will have been copied as The Bishops Transcripts and these contain the same info but werrors can occur, only when i register is full does it go to the diocesan records office, which then will deposit it at the County record Office but these are often the BTs.
You would be as well checking the IGI for the relevent county to see if the parish is included, if so you will have some info to go on first.
the IGI, International Genealogical index, is very useful and organised by county and within each county by surname and within each surname by alphabertical christian name in chronological order of event date, marriages and christenings are mixed in and are denoted by a M or a C
