Adoted Scotland Written On The Bottom Of A Birth Certificate, What Does This Mean?

I'm not sure if i'm on the right forum for this question, i'm looking for a long lost family member, i ordered a copy of his birth certificate from Ancestry.com which i have now received, on the bottom of the certificate is written 'Adopted Scotland' signed by the Deputy Superintendent Registrar, does this mean the person i am looking for was adopted at birth? any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks.

Where the Registrar Generals for Scotland, Ulster or England & Wales is notified by one the other Registrar Generals about an adoption, the Register is noted "Adopted (relevant country)" This means in your example, the person was adopted in Scotland.
