hes a muslim and he is giving me hope that the majority of muslim people do not actually hate us. my whole mindset is changing recently after watching some of his stuff ( https://youtu.be/A3uwEQgn8xo ) as many will know i had a deep hatred for mainly all muslims but i regret that and i now know its absolutely wrong to have hate built up like that toward another people.

i was also in a taxi last week and speaking to a very lovely guy from iran .

i just wish to god more muslims would make a stand against extremism .

Muslims DO protest against extremism but don't get much publicity.

As an aside, there was an EDL rally in Birmingham yesterday so the Birmingham Central Mosque held a Best of British Tea Party, open to all.

i do still support tommy robinson 100% but i also strongly disagree with some of the behaviour from only a few beer swilling scumbags in the ranks of the EDL .
It's not so long ago that the Irish were facing the same discrimination and hatred in mainland Britain, DD. I'm sure you remember.
There are plenty of Muslims that detest what is being done in the name of their religion.
They do protest against it and there have been several threads about it on here but they get shot down as 'not enough' or 'too little too late'.

You are right, Islay. The Muslims I know are more worried about terrorist attacks than I am.
They are just as likely to get caught up in an attack but dread the consequences more - the rise in prejudice and hatred towards them.

happened in Pakistan - 150 school kids dead. I did wonder about the logic of " I know! I will go to heaven by going in and machine gunning 150 school kids who are also muslim"

also in Egypt - I am not sure if Copts are allowed into the security forces ( kinda would make sense if they werent) in which case the security guards outside the coptic churches would be the " wrong" religion but hey that didnt seem to matter .....

UK islam is too closed a community for change & will remain so until imams and their men release their 'communal isolation' grip. Their basic tenet is for 'power of the dik' which propels their men.

Don't confuse “Muslims” with “Islam”. Almost everyone does at one time or another. I have fallen into that particular linguistic/ideological trap myself. The intolerant, cruel and murderous doctrine of Islam does not mean that every Muslim believes such utter tripe. I know many Christians who are good and decent people who regularly attend church and who disavow violence in all its forms. Yet they venerate and worship a book that unequivocally states:

“... If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place. And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die..” [Deuteronomy 21:18-21 (King James Version)]

Most Muslims haven't even read the Koran and those that have only read some selective verses that make them feel good about themselves. I suspect that a great many who have read it haven't truly understood it due to the way it is published – arranged roughly by the longest chapters first down to the shortest chapters last. This assembly destroys any semblance of chronology; therein lies much confusion.

The chronologically disjointed way the Koran is presented to the reader obfuscates concepts such as abrogation and hence leads many casual Muslim readers to believe that criticism of the Koran is unfounded. The truth is entirely opposite. If read in the correct chronological order, the Koran reveals itself to be a thoroughly nasty piece of work.

And that's putting it mildly.
While everything I just wrote above stands, I have to say that Maajid Nawaz is an utter snake. What he says in public and what he has been heard saying in 'private' are very different indeed. He's the classic exponent of the concept of Taqiyya – lying for Islam. He's a self-confessed Islamic extremest Jihadi who has now – apparently - renounced his former beliefs in favour of a more diplomatic way to impose Islam on us Kafirs.

Thanks. I decided to knock AB on the head for a while. It was getting boring – you can have too much of a good thing. Felt good though to throw in my two penneth worth on this, my most favourite topic: the religion of peace.

Mr Nawaz speaks with forked tongue. I do not trust the man as far as I could throw him.
My disappointment with AB, Birdie, is that (joshing/rough and tumble/***-taking aside - we all indulge in that to some degree) is that on the (possibly) rare occasions when I've tried to engage honestly with posters who don't share my views I've yet to receive a civil or honest reply. That's despite the fact that there are some bright and educated people who could argue their case and refute mine.

Your experience mirrors my own. I used to ponder it greatly. But then something occurred to me: they are morons. They are people who 'feel' rather than 'think'. They *always* insult, abuse and ridicule. That's because they have nothing else. They are empty vessels; devoid of the ability to rationalise and concoct a coherent counter argument. All they have is derision and lame mockery. Debating with such people is effectively impossible. They are automatons without a genuinely original thought in in their heads and are simply drones – endlessly spouting platitudinous drivel which never stands up to the slightest intellectual scrutiny.
