i was involved in a raid two years ago had no idea that the person I was involved with was into drugs and guns. when they raided the house he pulled a gun from under the bed and told me to throw it in my purse, I was in a panic wasn't thinking and did it.. went to court for that, the states attorney dropped those charges from me, I gave them a signed affidavit and was told that should be good enough. The person I was dealing with landed in jail and since that time has had people call me on three way threatening me and saying what they will do to me if I testify. I had to change my number and address so they couldn't find me.. now two years later I'm being summons saying I have to appear to testify. the only thing the states attorney will try to do is have someone there(police) with me while I testify. I asked them if they can assure my safety and they can't, they said they need me in court to testify,, my testimony is all they have to put this guy away.. I can't believe that to be true.. what can I do???

Ask for witness protection?
You've posted on a UK-based website but the content of your post suggests that you're in the USA.

While we're happy to try to help people from all over the world, our laws, legal procedures and witness protection schemes are all vastly different to those in your own country, so it's unlikely that people here will have the background knowledge required to advise you.

You might get more meaningful responses on this US-based website:

(To get to the 'Law Enforcement & Police' section, which might be the best one for your question, you need to click on 'Politics & Government' first).
This site is used predominantly by people in the UK. The processes and procedures here are somewhat different to the US (where I assume you are).
echo the above
we are all Brits - states attorney - we dont have them here and so we cant really give any useful advice.
