Was chatting to a friend last night and told her I've got my 14 year old niece staying with me this weekend and I've no idea what to do with her other than watch inappropriate films and eat junk food.

She suggested we should get p1ssed together. She did laugh that off but added the worst that would happen is that she'd throw up in the loo and feel like crap the next day.

So it got me thinking, if one of your kids went to stay with someone you trust, how would you feel if they let the kid drink? I mean more than just a glass of wine.

I might be being a bit naive but knowing how sweet the my nieces friends are, I don't think any of them have ever had any real experience of drinking alcohol yet. There's certainly been no getting drunk on cheap cider in a park. I don't think she could hack it.

Lol Snags, maybe I should hide my car keys so she can't go for a midnight joy ride while I think she's dreaming about One Direction too.

The Sounds of Music is inappropriate for anybody to watch. Age doesn't come in to it.
All things considered its probably best to just tie her up and lock her in the garden shed for the night.

The young offenders prison is just up the road. Maybe I'll do everyone a favour and just drop her off there.
Spa night might be more fun And no I wouldn't give a 14 year old booze... mainly because I have seen the impact of starting drinking young... patients with end stage liver failure in their late twenties...
Lol...

how about asking her what she'd really like to do.... fave foods etc
Mean Girls was on telly last week, great film! How about mocktails?
great idea boo... lots of mad ingredients colour syrups icecream etc... you will still need to clean up the vomi but at least no hangover
Had I kids, which I don't, I'd be of the opinion that they try a glass of wine was ok, in many countries wine, especially with food, is not considered an issue, but drinking so much as to be bad next day would be right out of order. I'd not trust my kids with them again, so I guess that's one way to get out of babysitting in the future ! But utlimately it is the parents' views that count, not those of folk here.

Snags, I don't get off til next month.

Meangirls? Lydnsay Lohan shall not be seen nor heard in my house. Now Clueless on the other hand...

If I asked her what she wanted to the do answer would be 'Dunno'. She's 14. :)

OG, that's an excellent point. Now I know what to do for other people who's kids I hate babysitting for.
