not really a question but where has my son gone, he's turned into a miserable bedroom goblin that thinks smiling might turn him to stone.

It happened within a week of him starting secondary school....................why?? everything I have said to him this week has resulted in me getting a slitty eyed look!!

maybe he has made new friends of a dubious nature at the school, and is being influenced by them.
My next doors son has gone the same only turned 11 last July which makes me think he is more 10 than 11. I even heard his voice beginning to break. They are shoooooooooooooooooooting up.
My son is the same. Always perks up when he wants something though! Funny that..

No unsavoury friends, same ones as before as we live in a no Starbucks town. He's a nerdy kid.
My son is nerdy as well and now a bit of an emo...but don't say that out loud.
my son did exactly the same in the same circumstances (just after starting secondary school) but it only last about 6 months (but it was a long 6 months!!) and then he was to being the same. At the time he was so alien to me. He is now 20 and I must say I have never had an ounce of trouble from him.
Probably just hormones kicking in. It will get worse before it gets better. May even turn into Harry Enfield's Kevin. The joys of parenthood!
Aww. my son is still the adorable chap.. lordy knows when the 'teens' will thrust in...( he's 13!)
I've got one of them. A smile is as rare as hen's teeth!
Mine was the same about 11/12. The girls were later 14/15
My son was exactly the same! Its normal. We resorted to calling him Kevin from 'Kevin and Perry' because whatever i asked him to do he would say ' its soooo unfair!' lol
I'm lucky I think, my 13 year old son is still quite a likeable, loveable kid, still loves his hugs and is rarely cheeky, I'm fully aware that this may change in the not too distant future but I'll enjoy him while I can. Now, my 11 year old daughter, I'm not holding my breath on that one.
