I have a sister. Our family is quite close though and the cousins are like brothers and sisters that live in different houses...

I am a only child, you dont miss on what you have never had.
I'm an only child and I tend to fit the stereotype of above average intelligence, with good planning and organisational abilities, but with abysmal social skills.

As a child I always wanted a little brother but, if I'm honest, it wasn't as a playmate or as someone to love. I simply wanted someone to push around!

I have no children of my own but (through a relationship with a single mum many years ago) there's someone whom I regard as being like my own son. (He was 6 when I first got to know him. He's 35 now!). He's an only child and (since he's the closest thing to perfection that I've ever known) I'm not sure that I would have wanted him to have a sibling, because they simply couldn't be as wonderful as he is.

Aww chris thats nice,

As an only child, i am feircly independant, almost to a bad point - im really defensive over privacy as i feel like theres too many eyes on me! But i have great social skills, im very very sociable! Quite organized, always was good at sharing when i was little, x

I worry aswell about when (hopefuly in ALOT of years), my parents pass, that i will feel really alone , if i had a sibling they would feel the same x
They don't always make you feel better Tinks :-(
I'm the baby of 3...my brother is 11 years older, and my sister was 14 years older...so I may as well have been an only child.
I've one daughter-who's pretty bright-and very sociable
She sometimes wishes she'd had siblings.
Hiya Tinks - I am an only child and have always hated it. I also have only one child, my son who is 21 - that wasn't my choice and I would have liked to have had more.
Both of my parents died when i was in my early 30s, it happens comes to us all one day but i have my husband and children and life goes on. God i must sound a bit harsh lol.

Not at all honky , you take what you get at the end of the day! Same as you DEN my mum and dad didnt plan on only one!

I see what you mean ummm i bet theyre a pain lol!! Thanks pasta! X
I'm at the reverse end. I'm the youngest of 7. When I was growing up it was a nightmare. 9 people (inc parents) all living in a four bedroom house, wanting to punch someone every morning was unavoidable. But now I'm an adult I wouldn't change a thing. We all get on really well and although it's rare to get all of us in the same room at once, it's great fun when we do. There is always someone to talk to when you need a shoulder or to borrow a tenner.

The bf and I were talking last night about how in the not too distant future we intend on starting our own family and th subject of how many kids came up. We both immediately said we wouldn't want just one. Maybe that's because he has a great relationship with his brother too but to me, being an only child would seem really weird.
I'm an only child.

(we lost my little brother to S.I.D.S.)

I think we each adapt to what we've got. Or not got, so to speak.

I went to boarding school from 11 onwards, so it didn't make much difference.

I sometimes think it would be nice to have a grown up sibling to "stay in touch" with.
Same here, as my Mum died at the age of 32. If she had lived then I'm pretty sure I would have had a Brother/Sister ! That's life, cannot complain as I have my health.
Yep ... as long as you've got your 'elf, redman !

Hi JJ ! Beautiful Elf, does she look like you ?
Hope you enjoyed your Skiing trip and that you brought me back a Cuckoo Clock !!
How was Switzerland ?
Does she look like me?

Well, she looks about half my age ...

And she's blonde, rather than mousey pooh brown ...

And she hasn't got runner's legs ...

... but otherwise, she's a dead ringer, LOL.

Switzerland was totally fab, thanks, but I'm a bit pooped.
Oh, crap ... I forgot the clock.

Sorry.
