Anyone had cats and twins at the same time? Were they a handful? Did the babies gang up on the cats, or vice versa? (PS, too late to do anything about the babies...)

We'd had our cats for seven years when our twins were born - I was surprised at how many people assumed we'd be getting rid of the cats but we never even considered it.
At the baby stage the cats just stayed well out of the way of the two noisy smelly things and would only appear once they were asleep. we never had a problem with the cats trying to sit on the babies or get into their pram / cot / basket.
Once the girls were on their feet things got harder for the cats because the girls adored them and thought they were a big moving teddy that was great fun to chase.
By the time the girls were about 2 we used to give them little cat treats to give the cats and showed them how to behave with them - don't grab the cats when they're eating/ if the cat walks away from you don't chase them - stuff like that.
The cats became a lot fonder of the children once they learned that the girls were always happy to share fish fingers and ham sandwiches!
Now the girls are 7 they take it in turns to give the cats food and water every morning and the cats will come and sit on their knees or lie on their bed at nights. It's very sweet seeing them curled up together.
Hope this helps. Congratulations on the twins.I'm no expert but happy to offer advice if you have any other questions. Best of luck to you all.

Thanks, everyone keeps telling us we shouldn't have the cats, nice to have some encouraging words :)
We didn't have twins but we had 2 cats when our baby was born 11 weeks ago. I was very nervous how they would react- possibly jealous or too curious? But the girl cat just got bod on with me because I didn't pay her much attention anymore and our tom completely ignores her completely. Didn't make any difference at all to him! Now neither of them go near her really. As yinyang says, she's just a noisy nuisance.
We are always VERY careful not to let the cats go into a room where she is sleeping. I really don't think they would get in the crib but you can't be sure really. They will always try to get into the cosiest, warmest places. (Basket of clean white ironing!??)
