He left Edinbrgh at 7am yesterday to catch a conncting flight to Tokyo from Heathrow,
Heathrow was fogbound -he missed the 2 flights out to Tokyo cos it was basically mayhem there.
He phoned to tell me he was on a flight to Hong Kong and then nothing until 15 minutes ago -when he phoned to say he had arrived in Tokyo -I was bubbling as usual -as i have been worried sick -he had been been on hecklepins as he knows what im like but he couldnt phone as he had no money and his moby didnt work

Tell ya -a long way for a shortcut -25hrs travelling plus when it should have beeen half -but he's there -its 11-45pm in Tokyo and he says the views are fantastic and he is now -on my insistence -even tho he hasnt slept for 2 days -is gonna have a wee stroll and get the atmosphere.

Tough being a mum -and letting your 23yr old son off on his own -does it get easier lol??

I am still bubbling -but with happiness -tell ya -its been traumatic!!

Glad you can see where I was at -hope your girl was safe and soundxxx.

(I seriously would hate me for a mum lol)
lol.. our daughter is back in London now, saving hard to move to...wait for it.....CAMBODIA....I kid you not, but she 27 but I do worry.......I think we must have done a good job mothering, we gave them to confidance and in our case the money to travel........he will love it.....
I don't think our kids mean to frighten the living daylights out of us, it's just that as they havn't been parents yet they really don't know how much we worry. My daughter is nearly 20 and just finished her gap year. She spent 5 months in the French Alps doing the ski season as a chalet girl last winter. She phoned on her mobile to say "Hey Mum, I'm on top of a mountain, strapped to a bloke with a parachute and our skis on. We're about to jump off and parachute then ski to the bottom!" I just said "phone back when you get down safely!!" Then her and a friend spent 3 months in Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. In NZ she went white water rafting, Black water rafting, Canyon jumping (bungee jumping) and sky diving. She brought home videos of it all and I'm so proud of her. She has grown up a lot and I just hope she is ready to settle back to studying now she has gone off this week to university.

Thank you both x

I am so proud that he has managed to do this on his own.

I said to someone else -think it may have been my mum -that until you have children you have no clue what the meaning of worry is.I am cursed and bleeding blessed for ever and ever -and the 2 I gave birth to are as well -I feel so sorry for them lol.

Loved yer tales -I know im not alone !!!
