Where do I start! Well, I have been made redundant and am currently on maternity leave. The company have confirmed they will pay my SMP in a lump sum at the end of september. As I wasn't due to go back to work until 1 May 2009 will I still have to wait until this date, as I am not officially employed with them. I have rang HMRC and Citizens Advice today and got told "hmm, am not sure" from HMRC before the phone went dead and I couldn't get back through! CAB are going to get back to me.

Anyone else been in similar position. Oh and will I get taxed/pay more NI getting the SMP as a lump sum?

Sorry for all the questions but have searched the net and found nothing of any help!
