Morning ladies!

I thought i'd started last night and got very excited, but fell asleep and was gutted to wake this morning and realise that it had stopped. I know what my BH feels like now (well, i think so) - tightenings across my abdomen, and from what i've read, a proper contraction should be a period type pain low down with possibly some back pain... Well, last night i was lying in bed getting these low down period type pains and they weren't too painful but not subtle either. Was getting some back ache too although could have been how i was lying. and this happened quite a few times within the space of an hour and a half (yes, all the while, hubby is snoring next to me and i'm watching the clock go to 1.30am.....thankfully my loyal cat keeps me company!) Anyway, i've obviously drifted off becuase at 3.20 i was up for the loo and felt nothing.

I'm only one day over and i can feel the frustration really taking hold already. I've decided to get outside today (not been out for days) and tempt fate - going to mooch around the tesco extra (i'm weird, i like supermarkets!), buy something nice for tea and hope that being outside tempts fate... We'll see!

so could what i felt last night still have been BH or could i have started?? and can this behaviour go on for weeks??

morning Nat, Red, MBoo, Psychick, Warpig et al! xx

most of my aches and pains have gone now and im faced with a 60 mile drive to my mums tonight which i dont fancy. Im so tired and dizzy.

Ive stopped the nesting and inadvertantly crossed my legs today so even if baby was engaged yesterday it isnt now lol

come on, one of us has to make a break for it!

Argh annoying!! stupid stupid website lost my post again when i pressed submit!!!

in a nutshell, i've done nothing today, slept for 3 hours this afternoon, got up to cook tea and have since just bounced on my ball watching tv. Natalie - can you send some of your motivation my way?! my house is about 99% there, and to be honest the stuff not done (on my list!) is stupid stuff like touching paint up - hardly essential, but i took advice from people and made a list of little jobs that would be nice to get done before baby arrives...

Did you get your chocolate fix? i have eaten about half a cake today and feel like a right pigster but i had a good healthy tea so don't feel too bad.

Red - are you ok? Tired and dizzy isn't good at the best of times not least before a 60 mile drive. I hope you arrived safely. Does crossing legs actually do anything or were you joking?

Anyway, of course i'm not tired now because i had a sleep this afternoon - why do i do it? i blame the cats - they look all cute and cosy when they sleep, so i lie down to join them for a cuddle and end up sleeping myself!! but when i woke up none of the little ******* were there!! (I have 5 by the way... all rescued, i just can't say no!) I hope one of us makes some progress soon!! xx
Morning again!

Well we had an exciting night! Hubby got in from work and we had tea at about 6ish, but I started getting dots in front of my eyes while I was eating - I put it down to a sugar rush or something, but then it started getting worse and it was like I was looking through a raindrop, like there was something round right in front on my eye - my peripheral vision was fine but like tunnel vision, right in front was like underwater and blurry. Anyway, I got the trusty pregnancy book out but by that point I couldn't even see the page so we phoned the midwife who said to get to the hospital. She checked my BP, wee, etc and everything is fine. She also checked baby's heartbeat (also fine - more about that in a min) and said that baby was now 3/5 engaged - hurrah! Anyway..... she reckons that it was my hormones making the lenses in my eyes swell and could be a sign of the start of labour! I am a bit achey down there today, but that might have been where she had been jiggling baby about and made him / her active or from my activites yesterday. Eitherway I am going to take it easy today :-)

And no, because we went to hosp I didn't get chocolate LOL

So.... the heartbeat.... when she was checking baby's hearbeat she said "It's a boy is it?", I said we didn't know but that my hubby is convinced it is. She then flustered a bit, and listened for a few mins more and said, "No, it's sped up a bit now, it could be a girl". Both my hubby and I just felt she was covering her tracks then and she reckons it's a boy! She said that girl's hearts beat faster, but I've never heard of this before - has anyone else? I really don't mind either way but it certainly felt like she had put her foot in it!

cont...
Lorraine, I have 3 cats and I know what you mean - it's funny how they make you sleep. The other morning I woke at 1am and at 4am I was still wide awake, I just couldn't get back off then Raffy came and laid on me in bed and within minutes I could feel myself drifting off!

How you feeling today Red? How is the diabetes now? Hope you are feeling better xx
Moning all, we still here are we??? Oh dear, another 6 weeks for me!!!!

Natalie - I have heard of the heart beat thing! A Boy's heart beat is like a steady train and a girl is like a galopping horse! So a slow steady would possible be a boy.

I'm having a girl and her heartbeat is very fast and un-rhythmic!

Hope all are well, how is RED, Is she gone yet? x
Morning natalie honey , take it really easy today love , did you say your bp was ok ? Oh and ...erm....girls with faster heart rate .....she could have put her foot in it or not love .
Not a mistake she should have made if she did though !
How are you feeling now , please ring her back if your sight does that again eh :-) xxxxx
Hi Andrea, well I never knew that! I guess I will know soon enough anyway! My hubby will be pleased, not that he particularly wants a boy above a girl, but just so that he can say "I told you so" LOL

I'm not due for another week, so in reality could go for another 3 if that's any consolation! I hope not though :-(

Do you have names in mind? We have Archie or Finlay for a boy, and Emilia, Evie or Bella for a girl.
Agree with bigmamma though, if you didn't want to know then she shouldn't put her foot in it. Saying that, a baby's heart rate changes when you move about or get excited, so I wouldn't pin anything on what she said.

Take care chick and rest!!! x x x
Morning BM, how are you?
My BP was 128/65, which means nothing to me but she said it was good for me, particularly after a rushed journey to level 5 at the hospital!
I feel much better today. I was pleased to hear the heartbeat either way whether it was a boy's or girl's! LOL. I guess soon enough we will find out :-)
We do have some names, but can'r pin one down! We thought we'd wait until the birth and see what she looks like. But I really like Eleri, Meg and Cari, But my hubby is hell bent on Menna!

I do like his choice, but I like mine better. Only think is, I picked our sons name, so I might have to be a bit more compromising than I would like!!! x x x
Well thank you natalie , your bp was certainly fine at 128/65
honey . Hello andrea , isn't it hard picking names !
Well I won't tell you what I was calling her last night when she was using my bladder for target practice!!! LOL x x x x
Lol , I can imagine :-D
helloe ladies!

Im still here and no doubt will be for some time lol

Natalie, you were right to get checked out with floaters in your eyes but your BP was very good! Mine was 114/73 yesterday and yet i still felt dizzy lol

I didnt go to my mums as i just couldnt face it, its not a problem as i dont have an appt to see midwife until next thursday so will have to go there then,

I crossed my legs with ease yesterday and cant today so presume baby was higher yesterday again lol

I had a running race with little CRX across lounge last night and gave myself some aches and pains but they werent productive as usual.

This heartbeat thing is a bit strange, babys is usually about 155 but then little CRX was fast too so im not reading much into it this time. Even though the chinese predictor and the old wives tales point towards a girl baby. I dount the midwife has put her foot in it, though saying that my SIL went for her 20 weeks scan and the sonographer said 'oh and theres your son'. She was not impressed lol

so Natalie, perhaps you are next???

Yay natalie!! 3/5 engaged - excellent!! I too have heard about the heartbeat thing - that boys are generally slower (typical)... we have a doppler and our baby's HB is always around 160 but i've not read any further into it. everyone around me is convinced it's a girl but i think it's a boy. i'd be delighted with either though!! I love the name Finlay, our neighbours boys are called Finlay and Lucas, both gorgeous names. I think we have settled on Oliver now and still Isobel for a girl but we have a few reserve names and are going to see what the baby looks like when it arrives in case it doesn't suit either of those names for whatever reason.

We had a very uneventful night, a few pains but now i know they're just effacement pains i'm not getting excited. Today we got up late again (but went to bed late again because of that afternoon nap) but gonna try and stay busy today and get some stuff done.

Natalie - i've never heard of eyesight doing that! i'd have been petrified - i'm glad everything was ok in the end. I bet you've got an extra bit of spring in your step today though hearing about the baby being engaged and now these imminent labour signs!

Red, glad you didn't risk the journey last night.

Morning everyone else that's not on this post! is this one going to run until someone kicks off?!??!
Red, I don't know what the numbers mean for BP atall, but last week it was 121/68 so it hadn't changed that much at all.

Whats the Chinese predictor? How does that work?

Lorry, it was quite weird how calm we both were actually, I didn't feel scared, and in hindsight I'm glad we had to have a trip to the hospital - it was kind of like a practice run! It was only when we were on our way back that I realised they might have wanted to keep me in had it been my blood pressure and we hadn't taken any bags with us! LOL

I think this post could run and run ..... well until one of us pops anyway!

I don't feel right today, just feel really weird, nothing that I can put my finger on. I had a headache this morning so tried to have a nap but couldn't get off, I have had.... ahem..... loose bowels on and off aswell and now I am kind of cold. I think I am going to go upstairs and have a lay down, it would be nice to think it is the start of things but I probably just overdid it yesterday and am paying for it today. Baby is still active, so I doubt anything will be happening, although I shall report back by the end of the day should anything happen.
Natalie, your BP is fine so dont worry.

Have ou thought of keeping your bags in the car? Mine have been sat in there for a couple of weeks which was very annoying when we did a huge food shop on saturday and found boot full lol

Im the same as you today, feel sicky, dizzy and have been constantly on and off the loo. Ive heard that clearing out the bowels can be a good sign but im not trusting it lol

chinese gender prediction works on your age when you conceived and the month. heres a link to an online one http://www.obfocus.com/calculators/gender.htm Might be worth seeing what everyone gets predicted.

I think that when it comes to labour I bodies take over and we get into a calm state, i was exactly like you when i went in for induction but had been terrified to that point lol

Lorraine, i hope your pains start doing more soon. It drags on so long at times doesnt it?
Hi Red - Chinese predictor says boy for me!

Yeah, I think we will put them in the car tonight - they are all lined up, along with the car seat, I just thought it was funny that we very calmed tripped up to the hospital and I'd have ended up giving birth in a pair of jeans and a scabby old jumper had antyhing kicked off! LOL

I was planning on doing Tesco tonight and I am in two mind's whether to now, I know i should be resting but I can't help feeling if I was up and about it would do me some good, so I think I will take it easy this afternoon and then see how I feel later.

Hope you start feeling better (or just a bit more normal!) soon xx
Red - It said Boy for me (but my scan said girl). Hope scan is right as I have bought pink things now! LOL

Oh well, as long as the bump in healthy x x

Lorrymac - I hope mine happens all in one go as I'm so impatient. No little niggles for me, I want to be huffing and puffing from the start - like the films! My last birth was a C-section and I am NOT doing THAT again! x

Nat - my sister said she didn't feel quite right and didn't really know what was wrong. That evening, she gave birth! So fingers crossed for you!!!! x
Im sure your scan is right andrea lol
