This is on behalf of my sister - can anyone give advice???

she has been showing pregnancy like symptoms for a few weeks now - weight gain, tiredness, spots, some sickness, no period, craving for ice lollies & aversion to some food smells as they make her feel sick.......

14 home pregnancy tests give a positive result!!!......however, doctors urine test came back negative - she went back for a blood test after a further 5 home tests still said positive. doctor agreed symptoms and said sample could be 'contaminated, lay around in surgery all day before test or even someone elses!!' (really inspires confidence!!!) - 2 days later blood test came back negative too!!!

My sister has a history of problems in this area after Ovarian Cysts & Endometriosis - and has had 1 fallopian tube & part of an ovary removed.

Doctors receptionist said that as she was not in pain there would be no appointment until Monday (this was on Fri).......however she did say there were high levels of 'something' in the blood but didn't say what or what it meant!!

She was told by doc that possibilities included - pregnancy, eptopic pregnancy or return of ovarion cyst - she has had NO pain which surely she would get with the last two options.

Any ideas?? could she still be pregnant & just had a dodgy test result, or are home tests giving a false results - please help as she is starting to panic and thinking all sorts of things are going on!!

Thanks xXx

Good God! How awful for her. I am no expert, but I do feel that she probably IS pregnant. I guess the only way to really find out is to wait and see. 14 tests surely can't be wrong? The hormone level is obviously testing positive, and I don't know what other condition would cause that.
i'd go back to the doctor and ask them to do a test to find out whats wrong.if that don't help try changing your doctor or visiting a family planning clinic.

I friend of mine recently had a positive pregnancy (home) test. She went to the doctors for a check at about 7 weeks, who discovered she was not actually pregnant after all. Her body had mimicked the signs of pregnancy but there was nothing in the sac.

Apparaently this happens in 1 in 3 women (!) but most don't realise it because it happens so early on.

Jelly_baby is right. I recently saw a tv show about how a womans body can mimic the symtoms of being pregnant without actually being pregnant. Im not sure what it is called though. Keep researching it on the internet, you'll find it.

I really feel for your sis. I cant believe 14 home pregnancy test came back wrong but at the same time you'd like to think that you can trust what the doctor said. I would go back to the doctors but request to see a different doctor and get a second opion.

Good luck x
