hi, i am 30 weeks pg. For the last week i hAVe had brown spotting on a daily basis. I contacted the hospital and was admitted for 4 days with twice daily monitoring of the baby (which was fine, growing well, kicking well etc) Doctors said "brown spotting is not too worrying as it's old blood" but it doesn't stop me worrying of course!
Anyone else had spotting in the latter stages of pregnancy?
they said my cervix was closed and couldn't see where it was coming from.
I am also on tinzaparin (treatment dose) and aspirin 75 mg
Anyway, anyone have any experiences etc?

But your dr's are right
It is old blood, brown is good, red is not
Are you a member of a pregnancy web site?
Lots of info out there with women who are experiencing the same as you if you look =)

\\\\Anyone else had spotting in the latter stages of pregnancy?\\\

Millions i would have thought.

Baby fine on monitoring, no pains, dates coincide, "spotting" not uncommon..................what are you worrying about?
When I had a miscarriage at 14 weeks it started off as brown blood. So yes, it's worrying.

When I was pregnant with my son, at 29 weeks I lost a massive amount of red blood. He was fine.

So both are worrying.
ummmm.....I can't see your point as the two cases are completely different.

You had a "show" at 14weeks.........she didn't.
You had a massive bleed at 29weeks.........she didn't.

Can't see your point.
You asked why she was worrying.

I gave two scenarios that I have experienced, like she asked in her OP. 2 different outcomes.
sqad. you dont get " a show " at 14 weeks,
No, you don't.

lots of reasons why i'm worried
i have a very poor obstetric history plus i am an "older" ahem lady who is probably on her last chance
black cat, perfectly understandable for you to be anxious, and given your poor obstetric history i hope your midwife is aware of your anxiety, if she isnt, have a word with her. best wishes.
annwasquith/ummmm......really?

A "show" is just a spotting of blood.....tell me why don't you get this at 14weeks......I would be interested.
black_cat....an plder person with a poor obstetric history.....that i understand......but my post remains.
A 'show' is a mucus plug. It usually happens when labour is imminent. It's usually pink in colour.
ummmm...that may be your definition but it isn't mine, as a small bleed at anytime during pregnancy can be described as a "show."
Okay, that's the definition for pregnant women. When they refer to 'a show' that's what they are referring to.

Spotting is spotting.

Bleeding is bleeding.

We are told to expect a show towards the end of the pregnancy. We are not told to expect spotting or bleeding throughout the pregnancy.
The definition of spotting in the obstetric world is light vaginal bleeding during pregnancy.

You may have you own definition.
That's how all the midwives I've seen also refer to it.
A show I mean, not your definition.
Then they are wrong....as you are and anneasquith is.
Dictionary Def...

'Show'

A discharge of blood and mucus from the vagina at the onset of labor or menstruation
