Here's the council tax info http://wales.gov.uk/t...v2011/110324/?lang=en

but I don't know what you mean by average, it all depends on size of house etc.

My house is below the average for Wales but my water is above average, does this commute

Welsh Council Tax averages for 2011-2012:
Band A: £775
Band B: £904
Band C: £1033
Band D: £1162
Band E: £1420
Band F: £1678
Band G: £1937
Band H: £2324
Source for Band D:

with the other figures worked out by me (based upon the standard formulae)

From Welsh Water (November 2010):
"The average household bill for Welsh Water’s customers was £398 which is £4 lower than the previous year. Over the next five years, Welsh Water’s average household bill will fall by around £30 in real terms as a result of further improvements in both operational and financial efficiency"

An obvious question:
Have you got a water meter?
Perhaps you bathe more than your neighbours :)
And I am NOT being flippant.

Thanks Chris
my point is my house is in band B with D being the average but my water bill is£520 with £300 and something being the average.

No water meter
That probably explains why your bill is above the average then!
(Only this week Anglian Water have reduced my monthly direct debit from £7 to £3 because I was paying too much for my metered water).
Sterling work as we expect Chris, however it should be pointed out that Wales had a Council Tax revaluation in 2005 which saw the introduction of Band I (set at 21 on the proportional scale where D=9) so the list you provided requires an addendum.

Band I: £2711
These figures have me scratching my head.

I'm in Council Tax band D in England and my council tax is 50% more than the Welsh average for the same band. Perhaps councils in Wales get more financial support.

My water rates are DOUBLE the average band D figure for Wales. My water rates went up by more than 10% a year for around six consecutive years. i questioned the increase it every year and even wrote to my MP. All I got each time was a bland statement that on average water rates had only gone up by around 5% but actual increases per household varied according to the council tax band. I pressed futher but nobody would ever address my question of why band D was getting hit proportionally more for water charges year on year. In the end I gave up asking.

We will move to a water meter now as the young factors have recently left the nest so a meter will save money I'm sure. I'm not sure it will be as low as Buenchico pays though.
wales has a lot more water than england :)
you know what the tourist board says
Wales: not ALWAYS raining
