Can someone please help me... Im a single mum and my daughter is 2 years of age, my monther passed away 2 years ago and Im my fathers carer as the is bed ridden and has been for the past 3 years. I have always been in employment and I also work for the local community group in my area. I also have a clean record. I tried to split a fight up which happened down the street as there was a fella lying on the ground and a bunch of fellas around him kicking him, I ran over to the gut that was kicking the fella in the head area and was trying to pull him off, to cut a long story short the police came on the seen and arrested the fella that was kicking at the head area and asked me for my contact details which I provided them with.. A couple of weeks later they came to my door and arrested me when I was on my way out to work and took me to the police station to question me, the police said that I was stamping out at the males head area but they said they didnt see me make contact with him, where as they seen the main offened stomping on the fellas head, I got a sommons through the post but the main offender said he hasnt received anything yet... My barrastar has said to me that since it is 2 police officers and doing witness that I sould maybe plead guilty as the judge will maybe go easier on me and there may be less of a chance I go to jail... I have lost so much weight over this, I can't sleep or eat properely and im worried sick that if I go to jail what will happen my daughter as there will be no one to look after her and she will have to go into care!!! And my father will have no one either... Someone please help me im so scared..

Plead not guilty, if your found guilty you still won't be sent to prison as you've a job and a young daughter plus there is a chance you will be found not guilty. If you plead guilty you still won't go to jail but will end up with a large fine and criminal record which could result in you losing your job.
You can away call the victim as your witness, is this possible? I have the same problem, hope everything works out ok.
I forgot to ask, what are you being charged with, GBH section 18,20 or ABH?
You're not guilty fifers, so plead not guilty. Have you had any legal advice from anyone else?

I'm no expert on the Law, but just want to say I feel for you. You won't go to jail, of that I'm pretty sure. Especially with your personal and domestic circumstances. This is what you get for trying to be a good samaritan? It's not fair is it x
Is there anyone who will stand up as a witness for you ? just go and tell the judge/magistrate exactly what happened and you were doing your duty as a good citizen. whatever happens you wont go to jail for first offence but dont make it easy for them plead not guilty and have your say.Say it quietly and dont loose it in court, just tell them what happened, dont bad mouth the police it wont go in your favour, tell them in your own words and take your time so you explain it properly, it will be scary but after all you have nothing wrong.good luck and let us all know the outcome.

Thanks everyone, its gbh section 18 they are trying to convict me of, and im so scared its unreal. I think its because its the police who are doing whitness that is scaring me the most as the judge is more than likely going to believe them as they are police officers so they have a head start already... I just dont no what to do for the best, im scared to plead not guilt incase im found guilty and then the judge will go harder on me and think that I have been lying.... My head is all over the place and I can't have a normal day as this is on my head every second of every day and im feeling like I cant take much more..
