because when we were brought up, we respected these people and they could tell us off if they even thought we were up to no good. I do exactly the same when we go through customs...

I know what you mean Benny. I went through a phase of walking round shops with my hands on show and open in case anyone thought I'd nicked something, and I always feel guilty when I pass a policeman - I've never broken the law in my puff, not so much as a parking ticket! I think my mum must've always done that 'behave, there's a policeman' thing when I was wee.
