my 4 year old has had speech problems and ent problems i have just discovered that medication that i took for epilepsy called sodium valporate or eplim could be the cause of some of his problems and was wondering if anyone else's children have had problems due to taking these tablets

Do you mean you took the medication perhaps while pregnant or breastfeeding?  I suggest you look on the net to see if there are any support groups of other parents with a similar experience.

to the ab editor! i allready have seeked medical professional advice i was just wondering if there was anyone who had experienced the same problems!

hgrove,thanks for your help! will have a look for some support groups,as you may have guessed i'm new to the internet so don't know much about it!! but yes i took the medication while i was pregnant!

jo25, good luck finding a support group.  The reason why I suggested it is that if there was any medical negligence in giving you these drugs when you were pregnant, the docs are not going to tell you now!   These groups are often quite "savy" and pass round info. which is hard to come by via the docs.  A word of warning though, some of these groups can sometimes be quite militant anti-conventional medicine;  it is up to you to be discerning, pick the best out of the support group, and the best out of the docs.  All the best.

thanks for the advice hgrove,as you've probably guessed by now is that i'm not getting any answers from my doctors whenever i bring the sublect up all they say is no comment!i do know that some of the comments from support groups on the internet might not all be true and that but i at least feel now that i'm getting from square one in finding some sort of answers!!!jo
