Can anybody suggest any natural medication that could speed up my metabolism??? Over the past year I have put about a stone on - no different eating habits and no medical probs. One thing that has not helped is my new job as I am basically sat down for eight hours, I then find it very hard to exercise after/out of work as I have my 5 yr old son to pick up and get ready for bed/school the following day.

Your help would be much appreciated

I cant help really but sympathise!

I have no kids and still find it hard to go to the gym despite all of my clothes being rather tight lately!

what about a walk at lunchtime? I did that when it was a little warmer - counts as half an hours excercise if you do daily. Maybe bring in a spare pair of trainers ot leave at work and do a power walk?

Thanx, i have never really thought of making more to my lunch times. I'll have to give it a try even though the weathers awful!!! As for my clothes - i won't even go there but although my wardrobes big, little fits!!!! Thanx ; )
Why not get up a bit earlier and do some yoga before you get your son up.

Go for a nice walk at lunchtime, maybe get other people involved at work.

Maybe do something with your son when you pick him up before you go home such as going swimming a few nights a week or see if they have a kids club in the same time as an adults class so you don't have to worry about childcare.

Do things together at the weekends too like going for long walks or bike rides or again find clubs he can go to which give you the time to go to one yourself.
I lost a lot of weight by walking in my lunch hour at work and making an effort about twice a week to walk into town.excercising regularly speeds up your metabolism too.i put a lot of weight on when i changed jobs and gave up the walking.I have taken it back up again, even got soaked in the rain today determined to walk to work!its easy for someone else to say, but i have seen the results and I didnt change my eating habits at all.the only thing is, you have to keep it up as I have found out:-(
Get hold of a book called Quick Callanetics - good results on half an hour a day, which you can spilt into 3 ten minute sessions. But you do have to keep it up! Scheduling in 10 min bites is easier than whole afternoons at a gym. Good luck.
