My daughter will soon be 2. She has been the perfect baby as far as her sleep schedule goes - 3-4 hour naps and still sleeps from 8:30pm to 7:30am every day...and believe me, she needs that much sleep; she's a bear otherwise. But, just in the last 3 weeks she has fought nap time and bed time. She's obviously tired because she is so cranky. We are very routined people and nothing about her routine has changed. What could be causing her to get off her schedule?

My son turned 2 a month ago, and he has also recently gone off his sleep cycle and has started waking up 2-4 times per night.  I think it could just be one of those things that happens - a growth point.  Possibly for my son, it's the fact that he's getting his 2-year molars... or possibly it has to do with him really pushing his will during the day (maybe he is feeling more anxious because he's really pushing us during the day, so he's more liable to wake up at night)?

These are just theories that may or may not apply to you... just to say that there are any number of little developmental stages that kids go through, and it may pass in a couple of weeks.

Lucky you that she's usually such a good sleeper - I hope she returns to her schedule soon for you!

Your baby could be ready to drop the daytime nap.  It happens!
