I know it's July but I'm on the Parents Association at my son's school and we are looking for new ideas for the Christmas Bazaar. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

I used to run a glass jar tombola at my sons schools Christmas Fayre. You have to collect a LOT of glass jars and their lids. At least 100, but the more the better. Then you fill them with lots of different things, coloured cotton wool balls, pegs, felt tips, pennies, rice, tea bags, boiled sweets, pasta etc etc. If I got any of the individual sized marmalade/jam jars I would put a bit of cotton wool in the bottom then either a 50p piece or a 1 coin on it. Add a bottle of wine or two to the mix and then charge 50p a go, everyone a winner.
It's amazing what you can get in pound shops that will fill a few jars, and if you ask parents not only to save their empty jars and lids but also to fill a few, then ask in the local shops and write to local supermarkets (I got 5 vouchers from both Asda and Marks & Spencers with which I bought a bottle of wine and some stuff to fill jars), they soon get filled. And the kids loved the fact that they were guaranteed to win a jar, they got really excited, even if it was only a jar of pasta that they won!

Thanks - we have done something similar where the kids fill a jar with sweets and then decorate it in a Christmas theme. They then have a competition in each class for the best jar and all the jars are raffled in the tombola, including the winners.
My church aske people or families to donate a theme basket. Like a movie basket would have a DVD certificate or theatred tix, popcorn candy etc. Or a beach one would have a towel, sunglasses, a little cooler, floaties, etc. You set a limit on what the person should spend and then raffle them off. I made an art basket for a child with pads, paints, etc. and I've seen princess baskets or a wine and cheese, etc.
