I've been reading on the net about people who are taking one the cholesterol lowering statin , drugs suffering symptoms of severe muscle / leg pains , which they attribute to said drug .

There are also some medical experts , posting on the net , who are against their use .

Is there anyone on here ,who are taking these drugs if so , what are your experiences ?

There are different Statins for men and women. Both my parents have been on them. No ill effects. Side effects differ from person to person. I always check the leaflet in the box before I take a new tablet, so I'm prepared. I'm very prone to side effects though!
I take 80mg of Lipitor a day.
I had some(mild) side effects on intially taking them.
I have no side effects now(been on them 2 years).
As Sir Alec says side effects can vary from person to person, and sex to sex.
I've taken them for about 2 years and although feeling a bit sick in the morning (from taking them the previous night) to begin with, I'm now fine. On the other hand my OH took the same statins as me (Simvastatin) for a month and had to come off them as they gave him muscle pains so they can affect different people in different ways.
