How many blankets is sensible to have for a new born baby? I know that, really, you can never have too many but as we don't know the sex everything is cream or yellow at the moment, so until we know the sex and have the opportunity to get out and buy blue / pink ones after the birth, what would be a good amount to have?

Also, although I'll be asking midwife about this this week, just so I know what kind of answer i will get - can you use Gro-bag's from birth? Do you think blankets or gro-bags are more practical? Thanks XX

P.S. Baby will be sleeping in a moses basket at firt, how many sheets do you think would be a good idea (again until we know the sex)?

hi nat we used a sleeping bag from birth, i had 2 family members die from cot death so i didnt like the idea of blankets. i used one during the day when they were asleep downstairs and when we were in pushchair but not during the night,
we used a gro bag with both mine, we just put a cardigan on over there sleepsuit for extra warmth, amd booties and mittens.
Hi Nat.

i used sleeping bags from early on, a few weeks once baby wriggled that bit more.

Until then i used a botttom sheet and then 2 warm sheets on top.

Baby would be wearing a vest and a babygro as well and i kept close eye on temp in the room.

I seem to recall only having 2 or 3 baby blankets and a handful of cot sheets.

with a vest and a babygro with todays double glazing and central heating they dont need much, just keep an eye on rom temp and baby will be fine.
We used to use a pillow case as a moses basket sheet ( place matress in the pillow case) tht worked well cos it stayed in place.
