i used to "lift" my daughter while she was sleeping which means picking them up while sleeping, putting them on the toilet then putting them back to bed without them waking. sometimes she would wake and understood what i was doing. i did this about an hour after she went to sleep then the last "lift" would be about 11ish.
it worked a treat and she learned to get herself up.
just in case of "accidents" you can get these padded mats to lay under his sheets.
hope this helps
good luck
Hi, my son will be 8 in May and would be wet every night if I didn't wake him to go to the loo at around 10.30pm!
Shocked ? 10% of 5 year olds are wet at night and 5% of 10 year olds. I wouldn't worry too much as I have had a lot of experience with this and have twins (one is a girl) She was out of nappies day and night before 3 years old. He pooed his pants at 5, and sometimes does that in his sleep now. Here comes the official advice though
* No drinks from 90 minutes before bed
*Encourage drinks during the day, but not fizz, tea, or blackcurrent as they make you wee.
* 2 wees before bed. Say one a teeth brush time and one after the story.
All the best, but remember, there's always someone worse off. And normally that would be me!
I potty trained my son really early ( before 2 yrs) and when he was completely reliably dry during the day i just got rid of the nappies at night. Before i did it he had a full nappy every morning. I just had a plastic sheet under the sheet. At first he wet most nights, then it gradually got less and less until he stopped having any accidents. I think if they have a nappy on when they wake up, usually in early morning they will fill it.
If his bed is wet in the morning just act as though you dont mind, it doesnt matter and he will soon stop. I'd still give him drink before bed just a bit earlier and then get him to do a wee just before sleep. good luck and dont worry how long it takes.
I managed to get my Son dry, by trying to figure out what time to stop him from drinking, and also by picking him up once after he went to sleep. . . . . normally around an hour or two after he falls to sleep. He now stops drinking anything after the hours of 5pm (on the odd occasion i let him drink later if he is staying up a little later, i.e. weekend) and is now up everynight once to go for a wee. He's now 6 yrs old and has been constantly dry for 2 years now.
