Hi, I have a 17 month old little boy and I was wondering if anyone could give me advise on how often I'm supposed to take him to the health visitor to get weighed now he is getting older. My health visitor isn't very helpful! I used to take him every month.
Many thanks.

hi i have a 17 month old. He last seen the health visitor for his 13 month jab and we was told he didnt need to come back till his pre school booster unless we were concerned. She advised us to wait till he can stand steadily and stand him on scales at home. then if you feel he is putting weight on to quick or not gaining weight then to go and see health visitor.
hope this helps
Unless you are concerned about his development, there is no need to weigh him at all. If you want to weigh him for your own benefit and comfort, weigh yourself carrying him then weigh youself without him - then deduct one from the other.
I don't think that weighing kids at this age really gives you any benefit, you can see whether he is over or underweight, as long as he has a healthy diet, gets plenty of exercise and is bright, happy and interested in life, then there is nothing to be gained by weighing him.

My 2nd son must have lead bones as he had always weighed consistently more than his build would suggest. When he has gone for his health checks they are always surprised at his weight, but agree that he has a slim build and no excess fat. He has been like this since he was born - you can't always go by the scales.
My son is nearly 2 and he has only been weighed twice in his whole life.
I know he is absolutley fine. Some Parents get obsessed about weighing their kids....not sure why.
