My 8 week old has a terribly blocked nose and it's causing sleepless nights (for both of us). Anyone got any natural remedies or suggestions we could try to clear her nose?

My baby was very congested after she was born and the midwife put a few drops of saline up her nose to clear it!!!
it sounds completely gross and you can report me if you like!!! But if you can stomach it (as both my sister and i did with our offspring, arguing that we would do anything for our children if they were in discomfort). Literally suck it out, yes! suck!
Its an instant fix without chemicals and they get a better nights sleep. Only for a few seconds, put your mouth over their nose and suck. Its utterly disgusting and baby doesn't enjoy it much either but if baby's health and your sanity rely on it, i strongly advise. Your call, good luck!!! XX
Tip the head end of her crib up either by putting a folded blanket or sheet under the mattress at the head end, or putting something under the legs of the crib/cot. it doesn't have to be much, but it will make her more comfortable and help her to sleep - have you ever tried to lie flat on your back with a blocked nose? Try it, it is awful, I think that Karvol, Olbas oil or snuffle babe are recommended for over 3 months, but you could check, it is a while since I bought them - even so, you could stick a couple of drops on a hanky and tie it somewhere in the room but not near the crib, that would probably help.
loobylou - you are not alone!! At our wits' end one night, mr nutgone and I did the same thing. It DOES work, although it's awful...

lilacgirl - I've done all of the above, they're all good suggestions. I used tiny amounts of Vick on the blankets somewhere away from my little man even at that young age, and propped him up a bit too. At that age though, they tend to slide down the mattress even if it's just a little bit raised, so we used some rolled up terry nappies under the blanket he was lying on (to keep them in place and to keep him from getting caught up in them!) to sort of wedge him in a little bit too.

You've brought back some memories for me!! Good luck, and if all else fails, you both should sleep alternate nights as far away as possible from baby's room. We did that LOTS of times for lots of reasons over the years!! Things get too strained otherwise xxx
instead of doing the mouth and nose thing, you can buy a small round extractor bit like a thin rubber ball with a tiny nosel which is placed inside the nostral and when you squeeze the ball a vacuum is made and that pulls the gunk out. (same prinicial as a turkey baster if that makes sense)i have seen them in chemist by the way. good luck x
