Hi christiangal, don't know if this is what you're looking for.
I believe a family is there to give unconditional love, support and nurture those within it. I was very fortunate to grow up in a very loving family, my mum glows with pride at the smallest of my achievements and is always there for me. I believe when you have children you have them for life, giving them space to grow up but with the secure knowledge that you are there for them if they need you. Children don't come with a manual but we all learn from our mistakes and successes.
If i were u... i'd retype/post this question in the main Body and Soul topic....i think you'll get a few more answers.
Family for me is the most important thinkg in my life ,they are always there for you however stupid you are being, their love is unconditional and they always have the best adviceand the best hugs when you are feeling bad.
To always be there and be able to listen without critisizing (sp) and I know that whatever I do they will support me even if they think I am making the biggest mistake ever and then when they are right they are there to pick up the pieces and help put me back together again.
If I can be half as great as they are to my son then he will be a very lucky boy.
PS Mum aleways has yummy stuff in her fridge too that helps!
Oh boy what a project. For me it is the thing that holds your life together. I love them all unconditionally and could not imagine falling out with them for longer than a few minutes. We are all honest and accept each others opinions and often agree to disagree. I dont believe any of us could keep a secret from each other. Families are just great.
I cannot answer for people who do not love their families. Ok they can be irritating some times but Life is too short to hold a grudge or not forgive.
Mr W is an only child and although he loves his parents lots he struggles with the bond I have with my sisters and does not always understand the need to see them or speak to them and seek re assurance from them. He treats long standing friends similarly to my sisters.
We also have people who we call family bur are not really but you know come hell or high eater they will be there weather they agree with you or not.
When growing up I often wished I could choose diferent siblings. I have grown out of the notion. My family, I have come to realise, is my life. They mean the world to me, extended and inlaws(!) included. They are those I hold dearest and those I share connections with that I don't find elsewhere. Ditto to the above unconditional love comments too. Family are irriplacable. I'm growing one of my own these days, and it just gets better. Family are a solid founation for building wonderful people.
