My son is 8 months old and I have been told that he can now have finger foods. He only has 1 tooth so far so I am a little worried that he will be able to chew!
I do have a 3 year old, however can not remember what I gave him as finger foods. Can anyone suggest some things apart from bread?

bread, toast, banana, melon, chunks of cheese, dairylea triangles (messy but my 2 loved them), pasta, well-cooked potato, cooked carrot, swede and turnip batons, broccoli, cauliflower, wotsits, digestive biscuits, this is al i can think of off the top of my head that my kids liked. hope it helps xXx
I think Posy has pretty much answered your question but in terms of the bread and toast, try different toppings to make it a little more interesting and the more you can keep to savoury foods the better.

Posy, looking at that list I think I'm going to have a plate full of finger foods for my dinner tonight! :o)
lol @ Lore!! hope you enjoy your dinner! xXx
Babies chew really well with their gums, and can start finger-foods from beginning solids, in fact one of the signs of readiness for solids is consistently putting things in their mouth by themselves, have a look here for more information http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/index .html

most fruit are suitable apart from citrus and strawberries if you have a family history of allergy/intolerance, and lightly-cooked vegetables, though potato and other 'nightshade-family' fruit/vegetables are common allergens too. rice-cakes are handy to use with spread if you want to avoid bread because of wheat or yeast issues (if you or your baby are prone to thrush, for example)

But mostly I'd be dishing up a bit of what we were having and leaving them to it at 8mo :-)
My eight month old loves finger food and she hasn't got any teeth yet! She sucks and gums them to death.
