Hi Everyone, I recently took my children along to a holiday playscheme course. Basically, i was extremely unimpressed by the organisation (a private one-nothing to do with a council etc). They claim that all coaches are CRB checked and first aid qualified, as well as actually being qualified coaches in at least one sport. however, one of their coaches informed me that this was a lie and the majority are not in any! Also, after popping in to the playscheme one day i found it to be hugely disorganised, with children running wild. I would just like to find out if there is some sort of body i can report this too so they can be checked out? Anyone have any advice?

No they do not, and i dont think they are registered. I also wasn't sure whether they are required to be?

Well, if they're making claims to sell something that turn out to be false (i.e. you spend money on a course because you believed the staff were qualified in a particular aspect but discover they are not) then in the first instance you should contact Trading Standards. Click here for their website.

You could also call Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 for advice or visit their website here

As to whether they need to be Ofsted registered, I think it depends on what ages the children being looked after are, but it won't hurt to get in touch with Ofsted for advice. Click here for their website

I think the council now has to register everyone looking after children under (7 is it?). Google your county council, and childcare, that might give you a contact
