I went to school with a red-headed girl called Heather. Her name seemed to really match her hair. You always imagined her skipping through the moors looking all Celtic!
Tom, I've known a couple of lovely ginger Toms :-) congratuations. Just (my only plea) no C/K or Sh names.
Ginger runs in our family too, but even though my daughter was ginger at birth she turned blonde by nine months! A first name would depend on your baby's surname really but what about Honey it its a girl? Good luck!
My daughters and I are all titian haired, but it didn't affect my choice of names. In fact my daughters have French and Italian names which I suppose is usually associated with darker colouring.
Two names that actually mean red haired and are suitable for boys are Rufus and the Irish name, Cochran, (Kaw-Kran).

I had a ginger friend called Tansy - it really suited her.

Amber

Am I really the only immature one among us likely to post an answer like...Duracell - the one with the copper coloured top...?

I guess I'd better not then!

I was going to suggest Amber too. Ruby and Saffron are great red/orange names too, I think x
My middle name is Jolene, after the gourgeous red-head in the Dolly Parton song.
Nothing beginning with a G
My partners ginger and is called martin which i think suits him I expected our children to be ginger but neither is our oldest is dark brown(like me) and our youngest is blonde.

A girl with ginger hair being called Ginger???

Poor thing is my first thought!

Just find a nice name that fits his/her surname!

Rufus for a boy, Rufina for a girl, both mean red headed

Louise,

If you are interested in an Irish name, may I suggest:-

Flann which means "brownish-red" in Irish Gaelic. This was the name of a 9th-century king of Tara in Ireland but is also used as a female name.

Orla which is a girls name and means "golden princess"

and finally Rory which means "red king" from Irish ruadh "red" combined with r "king". This was the name of the last high king of Ireland, reigning in the 12th century.

Wishing you all the best and happy name choosing,

Finn.

first off congrats!!!! i think ginger is a great name, reba is a sexy red haired country singer, reba is a cool name, just a thought. good luck!

My sister in law is ginger, she has two sisters. Her and one of her sisters have ginger hair but the other sister who has brown hair is called Ginger!! :-) So you never know how they'll turn out when you name them.

First - How unfortunate for you. Lets hope not hey!

I'm with Stevie - Duracells a cracker!

Heres some others:-

Rusty, Carrot Top, The Red Devil, Squash, Tango

I think Ruby is a good name cause its a really pretty name and a curly red hair on a girl looks v. pretty to !!!!!!
i have ginger hair and i am called Kate. So i quite like the name Katie for a little girl. But should it really matter if babies are called something to do with their hair colour? As long as it isn't stupid and they won't get bullied because of it, then you should have no problem.
