For a girl:- Charlie, Jodi, Bobbi, Darcy, Lesley (a bit old fashioned perhaps) Sam, Toni.

For a boy:- David, Joshua, Samuel, Tom, Andrew, I am sure someone will come up with a lot more.

www.babynameworld.com is excellent. My cousin recently had a son and named him George and my brother called his sons Thomas and Albert. It does seem the more traditional names are increasing in popularity for boys. As for the girls, I once met a woman called Sydney and strangely, she was married to a man called Kay. They were forever having official forms returned as being 'incorrectly completed'.
Don't let your boyfriend put you off calling your son Harry. It's a great name, though you could say I am biased as one of my sons is called Harry. The other is David, which is a lovely name, until it gets shortened to Dave.
I have a little girl who we thought was going to be aboy. We wanted to call 'him' after our grandpa, his name was Ernest. Anyway when she turned out to be a girl we stayed with our plan and called her Ernestine (or you could have ernestina). Anyway, needless to say everyone calls her Ernie and it is really cute and very unusual. She is a little tom boy too!

If I had a boy I would love to have called him Bertie (or RObert, shortened to bertie), but i guess I wouldn't have been able to have bert and ernie!

I have a boy called Henry, and I just love that name, everso popular now tho (it wasn't when I chose it 10 years ago, everyone thought I was bonkers) I love all those old names too

Thanks all for your suggestions... I really am keen on harry, but i might have to work on that one :)

I'mIt's strange really as I do want a traditional name for a son, but something more modern for a girl.. I will probably have changed my mind a million times before the birth though :)

Harry is a nice name but it is extremely common now..there are 3 in my son's class of 20 pupils and loads more in the school. If that doesn't bother you, then fine...just thought it needed pointing out!!
My boy is (William) known as Bill - I love it. My only thoughts on any children's names are no sh or K/C names. I work in a school and there are so many Kyahs kians kyras shannons shane shanea - their mums obviously thought how unusual sounding and the when they got into school found out they weren't. Traditional names are very fashionable now (particularly for boys). If my boy had been a girl he was going to be (Catherine) known as Kitty or I liked Libby.

I love the name Libby, or Olivia, shortened to Liv. It's not that I want unusual names, there were enough of them at my school, I had on in my class called Sky and one calle Shaneyl! Just something that is pretty simple and quite traditional. My parents thought my name was pretty traditional (charlotte) but it gets shortened to Charlie like most name get shortnened :)
For a girls name me and my gf love the name lindy
Question Author
That's very unsusual, I have never heard that before, It's a very pretty name though :)
Why not go for Harriet if it's a girl? Lovely name and can be shrtened to Hattie if you wish.
Just remember that your child will have to use the name for the rest of his/her life.
I'm a female Jaime and love it. I was going to be Charlotte - shortened to Charlie, but my parents changed their minds. I'm also got female cousins called Sam, Toni and Georgie (short for Georgina). Or how about Alex?
My friend has a little boy called Barney ...it really suits him, lovely name

Harry is a beutiful name, however, how about for a boy: Mckenzie, can be shortened to Mac, Frederick, to freddie,

and for a girl: Olivia to Livvy, lola, luna - the moon, paige, chanel, chantele

Hope these help

I really like Thomas/ Tom I know its not exactly rare but I just think its such a sweet name. Eddie and Ted are others I like for boys.
And for girls I like Dawn, Eliza and Robyn.
I have a Frederick Jared, and a Tamsyn Rose.
I have a Sarah Carolyne,,I also like Abigail for a girl --not bad shortened to Abby, or Oliver for a boy but agree with you,Harry is a good name!
Rachael and Robin would be nice for twins, i think nowadays more traditional names are coming back, imagine your child at school been ridiculed by other kids for a name like tiger-lilly, or apple, it's not fair on the child(ren) while growing up, just to be trendy
Question Author
I totally agree that all the silly names like apple and coco are "trendy" but it must be hell for the kids going through school....
