Common story, but my son started secondary school last September with above average Sats results, and was a model pupil. Within weeks he has become very good friends with 3 of the most disruptive pupils in the school, and I dont recognise my child anymore. He talks as though he is in some street gang, he gets detentions(after never having one in his life), I have been called up the school to discuss his behaviour in class. He argues about absolutely everything, tries to alter his uniform every morning, so it looks nothing like a uniform, blatantly refuses to do things...... I absolutely dread the mornings now. He is an easily led child and I think he is trying to impress these other boys by acting like them but he is going downhill rapidly and I dont know what to do.

Yeh, I know. Just wen you've argued about 10 things by 8am then anything else tips you over the edge, even if its trivial. Wont wear his school shoes - doesnt like them, even though he chose them. Wont wear school fleece - coz his mates dont.Wont wear brand new coat that he agreed he wanted - coz his mates dont!! even though its -3 degrees today......
I think this goes on with kids not going through the 'phase'

Maybe I just need to take a few more deep breaths and hope he will grow out of it! btw didnt realise 12 yr olds could glare at you so much!
My youngest does the glare. He's 13 now. He can be a right pain in the backside at home. Perfect at school though.

Opposite scenario with the eldest.

Which goes to show...it has nothing to do with parenting!

lol, I feel better already. Just so dont want him to end up a right trouble-maker. Once you get that reputation at school then its very hard to shift. Kids!
