my daughter is 3 year old and in the day time she likes to play outside between 10am and 6pm, these last few weeks our eldrly neighbour at the back has been complain abut the noise she make: general playing noise and laughing, she has been giving me and my daughter fowl abuse and swearing in front of my daughter, she gets quite distressed about this and is gettin scared of going out. was wondering if there were any laws into this? she has threatened to report me to the housing association which provides my housing. surely it is much better for my child to be playing out in the fresh air thanbeing stuck indoors

Lyla I have two young kids and I dislike screaming, from my own or others!!

Leanne - as others have said, be polite, but it is important for children to play outside. If she's upsetting your daughter that much and swearing/being aggressive put a complaint in about her, keep a record of all incidents but most importantly your cool.
As has been suggested try if you can to make a friend rather than enemy of your neighbour--- but if all fails let your children play out and forget the neighbour.Just ensure that the children do not deliberately wind her up , she does not deserve that, she is just old and grumpy.
Best of luck.
Like others have said, I would carry on. It's not like your daughter is winding the neighbour up on purpose. I would also be tempted to phone the housing association to make them aware of what is going on.
