this morning, seems like the wonder-check fledged yesterday and has yet to return to the nest

The staff don't seem concerned but looking at an empty nest makes me feel a bit sad

hi alba, yes ... he was jumping up and down when I saw him yesterday early but seems he took off and is roosting in trees, parents are with him so it's all to be expected and they should come back to the nest to feed but haven't so far

I see Tilly's post she was there a bit before me
I wish my local news would do more coverage. At the moment a colony of seal pups has been found dead in Orkney :-(

At least there are web-cams. Hope all with well with the birds, they are magnificent.
Nobirdy there this morning either, it looks a lovely day up at the Lowes!
^ and PS there's a lovely photo of him lifting of, on yesterday's ranger blog! http://blogs.scottish...etrust.org.uk/osprey/
The osprey chick is missing. He has not returned to the nest and they are all out looking for him. Hopefully, they will be able to trace him on the satellite tag today.
oh no Tilly. :-(
Good morning, alba. I wasn't able to log on yesterday and I'm so upset this morning to read this news.

I know it's only a bird and terrible things happen to people, but it still upsets me.
Morning Tilly, can't explain it but this has upset me too.
I do hope they find him and very soon.
I've got the tab for the webcam permanently open but I'm going to be busy today. I hope for some good news when I get back later this afternoon.
Would you mind posting on here any news after your return please?
Hi alba. Yes, of course I will.
Many thanks Tilly x

sorry to report no sightings as yet - the parents have been back to the nest and seemingly aren't too alarmed [ I'd be out of my mind, but then I'm not a bird !! ] - the rangers are hoping to get a satellite fix on him later today ...so far their info is telling them he's been moving which has to be good but so far no sign of him

I can't believe they've gone thru all of this to lose him now, but fingers are still crossed ... I'm turning in soon hope for better news tomorrow
They have some better news on the blog tonight.
The satellite shows he has been moving about and the parents are staying close to where they team think he is and possibly feeding him. The rangers and volunteers haven't actually found him but they are all feeling a bit better this evening.
Question Author
well the news is brighter but still no sign of the traveler - the rangers have tracked him moving about in one area with parents sticking close by - hopefully they'll all make it back to the nest before long !!
Thanks for the updates ladies. xx

Blooming adventurous children, I hope he's just investigating and returns to the nest soon.
He's back! Don't know any details yet but he's sitting on the nest asking for food.
Thank goodness for that!
