I have had £73.43 took from my current account from a company I have never heard of. There was a reference number next to the transaction, plus a web address. This address is for a Baby equipment company based in China. My wife knows nothing about this, and we certainly are not in need of any baby things.

I have tried e mailing the company as there are no phone numbers, but not heard anything in over a week.

What can I do about this?

Thank you

I would start with the bank to see where the authority to make this debit came from.

Thanks Mike, I think that is probably the only route available to me at this point
Yes, go to the bank. They must be under the impression that you have authorised a transaction in order for the money to have been paid to the Chinese company.
^ PS don't delay - if it's fraud they may have to cancel your debit card, just in case it's been cloned.

Yes, speak to your bank. I had a similar situation and tried to speak to teh merchant but they would not talk to me about the transaction on the grounds of Data Protection as I couldn't quote my customer password (obviously I didn't have one as I wasn't an official customer)
