My wife and I have been seperated for 14 months and have a fixed rate mortgage untill August 2010. My wife is living in the family home with her partner and pays the mortgage in full. I have recently discovered that this months payment has been missed. Whilst I know I cannot have my name taken off the mortgage untill she can put her partners name on it. Is there any way I can protect myself from being punished in the future, when it comes to making a mortgage/loan application, as my name is on the mortgage, but I do not make any financial contribution to the monthly mortgage payment??

The only thing you can do is pay it yourself.

And if she wants your name off she will have to remortgage which will also be difficult if there are arrears.

Yeah but she wants her new partners name to go on which means a remortgage and him to go through all the standard checks. That's what I had to do anyway.

It was years ago now. I just went straight to my bank, Nationwide, I can't remember what the charges were named but I do remember it cost me £700.
