I need to remortgage my house in order that I can raise money for a year's sabbatical, to study. I have to stay with my current lender for another 3 years. if I move, I get charged 3000. Does anyone know any good (uk) building societies who will pay my redemption fee and give me a good deal? THANKS!

Why cant you remortgage or take out an equity loan with your current lender?
I really can't see this happening the way you want. Watch out for extended tie ins, which are almost a certainty on a cashback deal, which is what you want I think. I would recommend talking to your existing lender first, but don't tell them what the money is for! If you do have to move, just add the 3k to your advance.
Try the Cumberland building society, I'm sure that I seen an advert on TV advertising that they would pay any fees
Have you tried the motley fool website? They do reviews on all the best financial deals. I think it's fool.co.uk Theres another site called charcoal as well I think which is supposed to be good for mortgage advice.
daddyg - broker is actually called Charcol (note spelling) could save many hours searching through BBQ sites. ;o)
