I know it is a tad morbid, but if I was to suddenly die would my girlfriend who I live with for 8 years be responsible for paying off my cred card debt? It is only �1000.

I think it would come out of your estate, before your assets are distributed in accordance with your will or intestate rules. She would not be personally liable, although if you leave everything to her, she would sort of!

Well I dont have a estate, live in council accommodation, Am a complete minimilist so I dont own much This PC is the most expensive thing I own. All my � goes on good food & travel, socialising and taxi fares.
If the credit card is in your name only then no she wouldnt be liable to pay it.
BenDToy is correct it would have to come out of your estate before it was divided. They would'nt take things such as computers etc into account it would only be liquid assests such as savings. I think with such a small amount they would ignore it.
