Bankrupt or not?

I was declared bankrupt in June 2004, but am not now shown on the Insolvency Register. I am scheduled to attend a Court Hearing to receive the funds from the sale of my late Mother's house, but have been advised that the monies may go to the Official Receiver & not myself as I am bankrupt.

Is this correct?

Many thanks,

I suggest you contact the Official Receiver who dealt with your bankruptcy & ask for confirmation that you have been discharged, & the date of this. Do not mention the inheritance. If you have been discharged and you are not now making any payments to your creditors under an Income Payments Agreement or Order then you should be able to keep your inheritance.

However, if your mother died while you were bankrupt or were making such payments, this may not be the case, as the OR would probably treat the inheritance as an after acquired asset & take the money.
