Is it possible to find out if a seller has had a house surveyed, i bought a house from barratts approx 7/8 years ago it was one of those houses that was exchanged for a new house, At the time i did not have a clue on buying houses , there was a crack on the wall at the back of the house running right down and another smaller one at the front ,asi hadn,t a clue i asked the sales rep about the cracks and he said that the surveyer had said it was ok i never seen any reports or anything. Now im selling my house another surveyer has said that he will need to ger a structural engineer to check out the cracks now i feel barratts have ripped me off and i don,t know what to do now ,if this all makes any sense could someone advise me on what to do.

Just stay calm and await the Structural Engineer's report. You do not give any information that would enable anyone on here to hazard a guess as to whether it is serious or merely cosmetic. When you have the report if you put the gist of it here there are several Answerbankers who are experienced in building who will comment and advise.
