I rent a flat and am a little confused as to whether or not I need home insurance.

If I need contents insurance can anyone recommend a insurer that caters for tenants?

It's not a legal requirement that you take out a contents insurance policy, but would be highly suggested that you do so.
pedigree please make sure you get some sort of home insurance. We were burgled a couple of months ago and it was devasting. If we hadnt had insurance I dont know what we would have done.

We are tenants and use pearl they are totally brilliant, the policy is low cost too considering we live in a high crime area.
It does'nt matter if you are a tenant.
Any reputable insurer will cover you.
I live in a block of flats and my contents insurance is covered by Barclays.
The insurance for the building is made by the landlord (your part of it is usually paid under your service charge)
