can anyone tell me what the law is on cousin marriages in the uk? i can find info but its really vague. Can one British citizen marry her first cousin from Pakistan? it is not a forced marriage and both parties agree. (i would say they really fancy each other, but hey, who am i to tell)

Yes, you can marry your first cousin.
Not a good idea to do so too often in a family, though, as it increases chances of genetic problems. Mix up that DNA from time to time!

yes it is lawful to marry your cousin

It is not a VERY good idea - but hell Queen Victoria did it, but hell even more, there were problems with a genetic disease

The naitonality question is much more complicated (ie does he become a British citizen with residency rights) and specialist advice should be sought.

thank you all.. that makes decisions allot more simple. The happy couple will soon be wed (Please all pray) before 09 and lets just hope the nationality problems will not be too difficult (another prayer request for that)
