Mortgage Query

my ex-boyfriend has just split with me for another woman. We bought a house together in March, and split 3 months later (June) which was all a surprise to me.

However, I want to buy him out of the mortgage. I have checked finances & can afford the mortgage and bills, and travelling/living expenses.

How easy is it to transfer the mortgage to my name alone, and how much could it cost?

Well you would have to have the approval of your mortgage company and also his consent to change the mortgage and the ownership of the property into your sole name and you would have to buy him out, although the rise in the value of the property would not be huge in that short time. Not sure exactly how much it would cost but I am sure someone will reply.
Solicitors costs vary - but 150 plus VAT is reasonable i think. Your lender may also apply a charge for the administration work - possibly around 100. Your ex partner would also have to get a solictor and he would have to pay them. Hope that helps
