There's been loads of answers on AB! I recall:broken egshells, copper wire, beer, fine grit/gravel. I'm sure others will follow...
The eggshells works pretty well if you have enough of them. You can try putting nice juicy cabbage leaves or dishes of beer out as well as they will take those in preference. Suggest a google search if you want to try beer tho as you have to use the right size dish or you trap other insects that aer beneficial.

Here are a few ideas - good luck.

garlic flakes
I've also heard that coffee grounds deter them - they don't like cafeine. Never tried it though.

Wait for a hot day, then go and pick them all up and throw them on the road where they will either get squashed or sizzle in the sun

I also chuck mine on my neighbours shed roof, which had gritty asphalt which the snails hate

If your pumpkin plants are still small, you can protect them by sawing off the bottom of a 5 litre plastic mineral water bottle and anchoring it with a long stick to act as a mini cloche. Once the plant gets bigger the snails may well go for easier pickings. If you haven't got any such a plastic bottles, the plastic bottle container at your local council recycling bin may be a good source of supply. This method is a good way of protecting your plants from cold temperatures when you first plant them outside.
