is it true that my wife cannot claim her state pension until i retire, as she is slightly older than me that means she will be 77 before she get's it

If her pension is based on your NI contribution record, then it's true, she cannot claim it until you reach retirement age.

If her pension is based on her own NI contribution record, then she can claim it when she reaches retirement age herself.
