Can anyone tell me how to get was off my stone fireplace and brass fire surround?

Won't a sharp knife scrape it off when its cooled down?

the best way i've found - cover with kitchen roll or brown paper if you've got any, blast it with a hair dryer until its melted and the paper will soak it up - you might have to do this a few times but it should get rid of it - if it's a flat surface you can use an iron instead of a hairdryer as it works faster.

That would probably work on the stone but would scratch the brass surround.
and if that doesn't work, try the opposite, put an ice cube on until it is so frozen you can pick it off ....
